Without meaning to, she has found a way to travel back in time to 1935 where she discovers Molly, a girl her own age very much in need of a loving family. But when Miri gets sent to her room after accidentally bashing her big brother on the head with a shovel, she finds herself in the same room. The family has just moved to an old farmhouse in a new town, where the only good thing seems to be Miri's ten-sided attic bedroom. Miri is the non-twin child in a family with two sets of them-older brothers and younger sisters. Setting things right. From New York Times bestselling author of the Ivy and Bean series and blockbuster The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society comes a sweet and charming time travel story. The real point is making connections between people, and finding yourself reflected in another. However, the historical fiction element is not the real point of the story.

There is some element of history in the book, as we travel back to another time. There are a few tense moments but nothing really disturbs the reader, even though it is eventful. It reads as if each page is being invented as we turn it. I had no idea what would happen at any moment in this children’s book. That only adds to the delight as we watch Molly and Miri create a sure-fire method of saving Molly from a dreadful home situation.

The plot involves some clever figuring out, because of the time travel angle. I loved it from start to finish, with it’s simplicity, and terrific dose of magic. Magic, time travel, a granny who’s part fairy, and two girls who find each other in different times – this is a magical children’s book. “Magic is just a way of setting things right…”
